So this week has been an eventful week. I've been planning a bachelorette party, tutoring, and now I need to help my grandparents pack up their house.
Tutoring has been interesting since I've have a 3 and a half year old, 13 year old, and everything in between. It keeps me on my toes to teach a 5th grader writing, then an eighth grader math, to go to a the toddler and teach how to count, recognize letters, and say sounds. I have to admit though, I am not a preschool teacher for a reason. It is really hard to keep my patience when a kid has a 8 minute attention span and cries half the time about his mommy leaving him.
I have also been planning a bachelorette party for a friend that is this weekend. Through an unfortunate series of events, the date and plans for this thing have changed many, many times. I just recently undertook the job of planning it. Luckily for me, I like planning parties and hosting them. During the day we're going to hang out in a pool, drink sangria, and chat. Later on in the evening we will have a wine tasting party were we score each of 5 sampled wines, and then have an Italian dinner. Should be lots of fun, so I'm looking forward to Saturday!
I now also have to help out my grandparents. They are moving from their large two-story, three bedroom home to a much smaller place. Added to this is that my grandma is a pack rat, has clothes that are about 20 years old, and every item she owns is precious to her. She needs to downsize by throwing a lot of things away and is having a lot of emotional issues about doing this. The family recruited me to help out since I have some spare time in the summer. Unfortunately, this means that I am not going to be on grandma's Top Ten List for a while, since I'll be telling her to throw away things that have some sort of sentimental value to her. Oh well... You gotta do what you gotta do to help your family. Even if that means playing the role of 'bad guy.'
